Besiktas's title hopes snapped:1-2

Championship ambitions of the Black Eagles stumbled with heartrending defeat to Fener on Inonu Stadium.

It was Fenerbahce who made the breakthrough barely 11 minutes into the game, when Alex headed a Colin's cross into the back of the Eagles net. This goal spurred on the Besiktas lads, who pushed forward in a desperate bid to even the score but neither team was able to change the score during remaining of the first half, as hosts clung to a 1-0 lead heading into locker room at the break.

The second half started off as tightly as the first, with the Black Eagles, cheered on by their flag-waving fans, taking the game to the Canaries. And they were rewarded for their efforts in the 75th minute, when Serdar Ozkan scored the equalizer. Besiktas conceded a goal in the 87th minute and lost the last derby of the season. That 2-1 defeat put Besiktas 5 points back from the leader.
